About Us

Our Team

Empowerette is handled by an exceptional group of high schools students.

Founder:

Advaitaa Sahu

Hi, I’m Advaitaa Sahu, a junior at High School North and the founder of Empowerette. I started Empowerette after being diagnosed with Von Willebrand disease. At the time, I didn’t know much about menstrual inequity or the challenges many girls face every day. But as I researched more, I realized how overlooked menstrual health is and how directly it can affect a girl’s confidence, education and personal life. Access to these necessities should be a fundamental right and not a luxury. That understanding inspired me to create Empowerette to fight menstrual inequity and help ensure more girls have the support and resources they deserve.

Volunteers:

Tanvi Sivakumar

Tanvi Sivakumar is a sophomore at High School North with a strong passion for STEM and expanding access to education worldwide, regardless of economic background. She believes menstrual products are basic necessities, not privileges, and is committed to ensuring that every girl has access to them. Growing up with family members who did not have the same educational and economic opportunities has shaped her commitment to expanding access for others.Through her work with Empowerette, she advocates for menstrual equity and works to turn awareness into meaningful action.

Carolyn Joseph

Hi, my name is Carolyn Joseph, and I’m a 10th grade student who is passionate about making a difference in the world around me. I am committed to addressing menstrual inequity in underserved areas of the world, as I believe that no girl should be hindered by a natural process like menstruation. Here at Empowerette, I hope to help raise awareness and provide support for those affected by this issue.

Almira Danayeva

Hi, I’m Almira, a high school junior, and I joined Empowerette because I care about girls who can’t go outside or live freely simply because they can’t afford menstrual products. No one should be trapped or excluded because of something natural. Through Empowerette, I want to help create access for every girl.
